JAL introduces Premium Economy

Japan Airlines (JAL) will introduce Premium Economy service on the SydneyTokyo (Narita) route, starting from December 1, 2009.
The once-daily flight, also equipped with the airlines JAL Shell Flat Seat in executive class is operated with a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
JAL claims its Sky Shell Seat is the worlds first shell-shaped seat in premium economy class. It boasts a 9-inch personal TV screen and provides 20% more legroom than regular economy class with its shell-shaped sliding seat-back design which ensures passengers private space is maintained throughout the flight, undisturbed even when the seat in front is reclined. Passengers can also enjoy a meal service created for Premium Economy class.
At the airport, passengers can take advantage of the dedicated Premium Economy check-in service at both Sydney and Tokyo, along with access to the airport lounge. Baggage services offered include a 30kg baggage allowance an extra 10kg per person above the usual economy class baggage allowance, and priority baggage service.
Special introductory return fares from Sydney to Tokyo will be on sale from $1,500 plus taxes of around $300.
