Qantas adds Melbourne - Hong Kong service

21 December 2007

Qantas Thursday announced that it would be increasing the amount of services between Melbourne and Hong Kong by three extra return flights a week from the 1st of April next year.

Operated by the 297-seat Airbus A330-300s in a two-class configuration, these new flights bring the total number of weekly MelbourneHong Kong services up to ten.

The new flights will complement our current daily three class B747-400 services on the route, and signal a move towards a double daily Melbourne-Hong Kong service in the future, said John Borghetti, Qantas Executive General Manager.

The additional MelbourneHong Kong services will fly Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with departures at Melbourne at 11:55 and return services from Hong Kong departing at 21:05.

These new Melbourne services will take to 31 the number of flights Qantas operates to Hong Kong, including double daily flights from Sydney, 10 per week from Melbourne, four from Brisbane and three from Perth, said Mr Borghetti.

Other new announcements in the China market include two extra weekly MelbourneShanghai services to begin on the 11th of March, 2008
