Singapore to Houston
17 December 2007
Singapore Airlines starts one-stop flights to Houston Texas via Moscow from 20 March.
The four-times weekly service provides the first direct air link between the Russian capital and southern state of Texas.
It will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with a three-class configuration made up of first, business using a 1-2-1 layout with every seat on an aisle and economy.
Flights leave Singapore each Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday morning and return from Houston late the same evening.
From the same date the carrier also increases frequency between Singapore and Moscow from three flights a week to daily, with the return leg from Russia going via Dubai on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Weve observed a steadily building demand for air services between Singapore and Houston as well as the surrounding regions, said the airlines executive vice president of marketing and regions, Huang Cheng Eng. Houston will act as a gateway for the southern USA to Singapore and southeast Asia.
Houston is the fourth-largest city in North America with a population of more than two million, and its industries include oil and gas, aeronautics, medical research and healthcare, technology, manufacturing and shipping.
Of the Singapore-Moscow route, Cheng Eng added: There is real interest and attraction in Singapore as well as other onward destinations especially Bali and Australia among Russian business travellers and holidaymakers.
